About us
Welcome to Mushin Designs, where craftsmanship meets sustainability. My name is Akira Yokoyama, and I’m the owner and sole artisan behind this small but passionate woodworking business based in Oregon.
I mostly make use of urban salvage or wood from dead or dying trees. Rather than relying on newly cut lumber, I source wood that has been responsibly reclaimed from local properties, fallen trees, or city streets. This allows me to give new life to wood that would otherwise go to waste while minimizing my environmental footprint.
Each item in my shop is hand-crafted with care, precision, and a deep respect for nature. I specialize in live edge wood pieces, celebrating the natural beauty of wood by preserving the organic lines and edges that make each piece unique. From furniture to home decor, every creation tells its own story, with grains, knots, and imperfections that make it special.
